iPad vs Kindle

Apple’s release of the new iPad 2 tablet have many people asking who wins the battle of iPad vs Kindle. Some people are siding with the kindle but there are a ton of people out there who are thinking that the kindle may actually be obsolete. These thoughts originate from the fact that the new second generation Apple iPad is now lighter, thinner and faster than the original iPad. Let’s take a look at how the kindle stacks up against the iPad.

Style – There is no questions asked here, the iPad wins hands down in the style battle and I do not think any kindle owners would disagree here. One point for the iPad.

Battery Life – The iPad vs Kindle battle heats up here when we look into battery life because the Kindle definitely has the edge with respect to battery life. The iPad has a battery life of 10 hours while the Kindle can supposedly last for up to 2 weeks on one charge (this stat does of course come with some caveats – the wireless connections needs to be turned off to achieve a 2 week battery life). One point for the Kindle.

Display – The Kindle is black and white and the iPad is in full high definition color with a very high screen resolution, need I say more? The iPad wins the display battle in a landslide. One point for the iPad.

Features – The iPad’s main function is not a platform to read books on but it handles this task very well. The Kindle’s main function is a platform to read books on. Granted the Kindle might be better for reading books but the iPad is incredible for a whole host of activities. You can not only watch books, but play games, watch movies, listen to music, etc. Point iPad.

Selection of Books – Since the main feature of the Kindle is a platform to read books, it makes sense to compare its selection of books to that of the iPad. Surprisingly, there are more books available for the iPad than there are for the Kindle. While this may surprise you, the fact of the matter is that this is true. Since the iPad has a Kindle App, any book that is available for the Kindle is also available for the iPad. In addition on the iPad there are several books that are available for the iPad 2 that are not for the Kindle, such as interactive children’s books or the like. In the iPad vs Kindle battle, it might be surprising but in terms of selection of books, point goes to the Apple iPad.

If you were keeping track of the score, the iPad wins the iPad vs Kindle battle in a landslide, 4 points for the iPad and one point for the Kindle.

Refurbished iPad – How to Buy a Refurb

So you’re looking for a refurbished iPad? It is definitely a great option when thinking about purchasing any expensive high technology item to consider the refurbished route, but there are a few things that you will always need to consider before making your purchase. When it comes to the iPad here is a quick guide to buying a refurbished iPad.

Always Ask Questions

When buying a refurbished iPad, make sure to do your homework and ask enough questions to be sure that you are not going to get ripped off when buying a repaired iPad.

Ask the seller what was the problem with the iPad that was fixed in the refurb process. Ask if you can test out the iPad before purchasing, it would be nice to make sure the iPad actually is working properly after they have refurbished the device.Refurbished iPad Ask if the seller has a return policy, it would be nice to have the ability to return the iPad if it ends up having some technical issues that were not fixed when the iPad was refurbished.

Difference Between New and Refurbished

Generally there is not much of a difference between a new iPad and a refurbished iPad. The main difference is that the refurbished iPad was once defective but in the process of refurbishing the iPad all of the defective parts are replaced or fixed and the repaired iPad is basically as good as new. So for example, if there was a battery life issue, they most likely replaced the battery with a brand new one; if the iPad camera was not working or living up to its specs, the camera was most likely replaced or restored to work like new. This also goes for a refurbished iPhone or a iPod.

Did you know that you can turn your regular old iPad or the new iPad 2 into a portable iPad GPS that will help you to navigate the roads and keep you from getting lost? Well, it is definitely possible to do so and there are actually a few iPad GPS apps that will get navigation on to your iPad. Lets not waste any more time and get right into the top iPad GPS apps.

iPad GPS Apps

GPS Tracker – This iPad GPS app is free.  While free is good and all it is not necessarily the best of the apps. However, since it is free you should definitely download it and give it a try. One of the interesting features that this app has is that it allows you to record your movements for review later on.

iPad CoPilot Live – All of the maps in this app are stored on the iPad itself making it the fastest of the iPad GPS apps. This app also has a great user interface, perhaps the best in iPad navigation apps.

iPad GPSMotion X – While this navigation app is not free, it is the cheapest paid iPad GPS app.  The maps seem to be straight from google maps and the interface seems fairly straight forward. I actually think that this app does not bring much to the table that the free iPad navigation apps offer.

iNavX Marine – This app is very interesting as it allows for you to use the iPad as a Nautical GPS device.  None of the previously mentioned GPS apps have this functionality. This app will run you $49.99 which is a bit pricey but if you frequent the high seas, it is definite worth the money to have nautical GPS on your iPad and is less expensive than other nautical GPS solutions.

iPad vs iPhone … Even before the Apple iPad was officially released to the public, it has been under fire and has received several negative reviews by both critics and iPad owners for a few reasons. The main reason for the negative reviews is that people feel that the iPad is a little overpriced considering the fact that it is perceived as a giant iPhone. Fact of the matter is that the iPad actually has several different functions that are not available on the iPhone.

iPad vs iPhone – Comparison

There are a few main differences that distinguish the iPad from the iPhone and we will outline the differences below.

Increased Memory in iPad

iPad owners are always happy about the increase in hard drive size. The Phone is currently capped at 32GB while the iPad features a max hard drive of 64GB. This larger memory size that is available on the iPad allows you to store twice the apps, music, videos and podcasts.

iPad Screen Resolution

One main feature of the iPad that separates it from the iPhone is the screen resolution. An iPad screen resolution is 1024 x 768 which is much better than the 480 x 320 resolution offered by the iPhone.

Larger iPad Screen Size

The larger screen is a quite obvious perk of the iPad but for some reason people believe that the iPad is too big. I personally believe this is crazy and the iPad is a great size but I can understand why some people would want the iPad to be a drop smaller. The iPad screen size is huge at 9.7 inches of screen size which is way bigger than the iPhone screen size of only 3.5 inches. Playing games, watching movies, using apps, reading books and newspapers, and surfing the web is all more enjoyable on the larger screen.

One thing that should be addressed here is that iPhone and iPad flash compatibility is non-existent.  It would be amazing if the iPad 3 specs allowed for iPad flash compatibility.

And the iPad vs iPhone battle continues…

Advantages of Apple’s iPad

Apple has stunned the world again by introducing the new Tablet PC – iPad – that is filled with groundbreaking technology. The advantage of the iPad, this futuristic gadget has owned every other device that is available in the market, are endless. The reason behind is that it has won the hearts of the mass by its awe-inspiring features, its looks and applications. The iPad gives an overwhelming experience to the user; it is just like using the same “touch-based Slate” as used in the movie “AVATAR”, even the person who doesn’t have an iPad yet can feel it only by imagining. Let’s skip this chitchat and come to the advantages of an iPad. Many people after getting their hands on the iPad has given their reviews in its favor so lets see the advantages of iPad.

First lets start with the body of the Apple iPad

The design of the iPad is very sleek, smooth and beautiful. The combination of black and silver with round corners makes it even more attractive.

The size of the screen is large nearly 9.7inches which is good for contents on the interface screen, due to the screen size the user can fill the interface with many “Speed-dial” applications.

The weight of the iPad is only 1.6inches and 0.5inches thin, which makes it very lighter and slim than the other laptops or notebooks out there.

It has the long battery life than other gadgets which is nearly 10 hours / charge.

Now, lets move inside

In iPad, Apple has given the user access to more than 140,000 applications which is more than enough, again, more than enough for anyone, which means iPhone applications can also be run in iPad and also the applications that iPhone didn’t support.

With the iBook application the user can buy and read lots of electronic books the best part is that the user read e-books in landscape mode just like reading a paper book.

The photo application is also very awesome and can also be used as a digital frame photo.

The A4 processor is super fast and very efficient, also the multi-touch function is very responsive.
